Mary Ann's Story
Life
I've been living in Port Orchard, WA since 2001. My husband, Dan, and I have had 4 farms we've called Lucky Diamond Ranch. Until 2011, we raised Tennessee Walking Horses and a few miniature horses and had very successful businesses - Dan was a full time farrier (horseshoer) and I started young horses, rehabbed problem horses and was a certified riding instructor. It was a heck of a lot of work, and a heck of a lot of fun! The economy, however, made it difficult to make a living from other people's hobbies, so in 2005, we went back to "real jobs" - me in a dermatology office, and Dan as an electrician at a local casino. In 2011, we decided that it was time to retire from the horse business. We listed our horse facility in June, and sold it for full price with no contingencies in about 10 hours! Our beloved horses all went to excellent homes, and we moved into our dream home - a Lindal cedar home on 5 acres with a view of Mt. Rainier. We're still in Port Orchard, but instead of horses, we've gone to steel horses (the latest is a classic Goldwing trike that we both ride) and Lucky Diamond Ranch now consists of dogs, cats and an African Grey Parrot we've had for over 30 years.
Both Dan and I have turned our interests into healing and human service. Dan is studying Metaphysical Christianity and has become an Ordained Minister. He's currently working at the Puget Sound Shipyard as a "Metaphysician Electrician" - who knows where his path will take him from there? I've been a Master Reiki Practitioner since 2015, and am now a Licensed Massage Therapist. I own and operate Your Perfect Synergy Healing Arts and enjoy a busy, happy practice.
My daughter, Melinda, graduated from the UW in 2005, with a BA in English. She is married and is a Bank Manager in Edmonds. Dan's daughter, Marquita, is the Director of Financial Aid at Pierce College in Lakewood. She and her husband have two deligh...Expand for more
tful boys that give Grandma and Grandpa a run for their money when they come to visit. We are very proud of our girls! My son, Chris, is married and living in Missouri. He was a Sergeant in the Army, specializing in transportation until he was forced to retire with a medical disability.
We have been blessed with happy lives, great kids and good health. I hope that you all are happy and healthy, too!

Workplace
Health Care Extraordinaire! Been there, done that, starting as a claims examiner at King County Medical Blue Shield. Went from a Provider Service Rep to a Billing Rep at Northwest Hospital, then to Manager of Patient Accounts at Stevens Hospital to Office Manager at a Cardiology practice. Took a break from health care administration and became the Assistant to the Executive Director of the Community Service Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Seattle. Went back to health care as the Business Office Manager of New Beginnings of NW - a chemical dependency facility for adolescents. When that closed, became the Administrator of a Plastic Surgery Center, then downsized to the Office Manager of a group of equine Veterinarians. "Retired" from that to start my own horse training business, where I've worked the hardest I ever have! Kept the farm, but went back to managing a Dermatology practice - ahhhhh, the easy life at last, until the doctor retired at the age of 80! Took a break, sold the farm and horses, bought a beautiful cedar home with a view of Mt Rainier, went to massage school and now work at home providing licensed massage therapy and Reiki as Your Perfect Synergy Healing Arts. A long journey from starting at Lindsay's A & W in Lake City at the age of 16! And I was going to be a veterinarian!
